Eye Tests

Eye tests, also referred to as an eye examination is a series of visual tests conducted by an optometrist.

It’s purpose is to gauge the focus performance of a patients eyes. This opportunity is also used to carry out other optical tests, for example to examine colour blindness or cataracts.

We highly recommend  having regular eye tests to ensure you have the correct prescription for your corrective glasses or contact lenses. Checking the general health of your eyes is also very important as some problems occur without any obvious signs or symptoms.

If you are having difficulties focussing on objects, get headaches from eye strain or experience any other issues with your vision, book an appointment for a check up as soon as possible.

Depending on your occupation, you could be entitled to a free eye examination. For example, in the UK, employers are required to pay for their employees if they perform work regularly in front of a computer.

Children should have their first eye test at 6 months, to identify any problems early.

Standard inspections test for myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and more.

As part of the procedure, you will be asked to read out a series of letters, called a Snellen chart. The characters get progressive smaller the further down you read.

Using a phoropter, the eye care professional will insert different lenses to determine which prescription you require in each eye.

An eye examination is painless, and relatively quick. You should allow an hour of your time to complete it. You may also choose to select a new style frame if your lense prescription changes.
